On 31 March 2014 SICE Chile received news of the award by METRO S.A. of the project for the “Supply and Maintenance of the Communications System for the Project for Santiago Metro Lines 6 and 3”.

For this project we submitted our bid as a consortium with SOCIEDAD IBÉRICA DE CONSTRUCCIONES ELÉCTRICAS S.A. y HYTERA MOBILFUNK GmBH.

The project includes the implementation and maintenance of the systems for the newly built lines 3 and 6 and existing lines 1, 2, 4, 4A and 5.

The total value of the contract awarded is approximately 57.5 MM US dollars.

It is planned to work on the existing lines in 2014 and 2015, while the new lines (the building of which has already begun) have the following scheduled opening dates:

  • Line 6: 2017
  • Line 3: 2018

Santiago Metro project 63 is the largest underground UTO (unattended train operation) project in the world, with a budget of 2.758 billion US dollars and very challenging deadlines.

It will consist of 37.4 km of line and 28 passenger stations, with an estimated 130 million journeys per year.
