SICE succeeds at the 9th Railway Innovation Congress

9º Congreso de Innovación Ferroviaria

As in previous editions, SICE has actively participated in the 9th edition of the Railway Innovation Congress, held last November in San Fernando (Cádiz).

Every year, the forum has become a meeting point where leading companies within this business line, together with public and private transport entities, show their most innovative projects and how technology develops.

The congress is organized by the UNED and University Carlos III of Madrid and has received this year strong cooperation from the Andalusian Public Works Agency. This event is now unavoidable where people within the railway sector share their innovative experiences in this business line and in its several fields: infrastructure, facilities, rolling stock, auxiliary material, operation maintenance and safety.

This year, the agenda comprised several topics such as: torsional vibration analysis, innovation concerning railway signaling, comprehensive systems for geometric quality measuring; noise-reducing and vibration fraction measures; asphalt mixtures in railway infrastructures and advanced dynamic simulation models.

However, the most noteworthy papers were those in which SICE (sponsor of the Congress) presented two new projects executed for ADIF. The first one, based on AQUILÓN, an innovative crosswind prediction system in High Speed lines. The second, on the SIDERA technological platform and its unique capacity for the comprehensive management of railway tunnels.

Both projects have been carried out to solve real problems in ADIF's high-speed facilities, being fully operational. For the development and execution of these projects, ADIF relied on the support and SICE team’s expertise, which performed from the previous studies to the development and integration of the complete solutions.
