Control centre for Madrid Calle 30 tunnels

Centro de Control de los Túneles Madrid Calle 30

SICE has developed the full integration of the Calle 30 tunnels in Madrid (renowned the world over for urban tunnels). Madrid Calle 30, one of the main urban transformation projects in the city of Madrid, involves the remodelling of the roadway and land where the old M-30 used to run, following the construction of over 47 km of tunnels. The control centre is the driving force and nucleus that coordinates and synchronises the installations and human resources. All of the Calle 30 installations are supervised and controlled from the control centre. A unique project in terms of size and scope, as well as a large challenge in terms of deadline (13 months)

The project included everything from the full construction of the main security control centre, as well as hardware control equipment and SICE SIDERA's proprietary integral tunnel control software application for both this centre and the backup centre physically located in Madrid local government's mobility area. The application developed by SICE monitors and controls over 400,000 signals: security systems, electromechanical installations, traffic, communications, lighting

SICE designs, supplies and installs the following for the tunnels:

  • Optical fibre ring and sub-ring with a Gigabit Ethernet communications network and WDM
  • System of remote control stations distributed in the tunnel
  • Access control and technical rooms
  • IP SOS system
  • Number plate reading system
  • Radar system
  • Radio communications system for the tunnels, TETRA, TETRAPOL and FM
  • Linear fire detection system
  • DALI lighting control system
