Waka Kotahi New Zealand Transport Agency and SICE NZ have agreed to a new contract to replace Waka Kotahi´s current tolling Back-Office system. The significant strategic agreement allows SICE to extend its tolling experience into the ANZ region.
SICE has been appointed to provide Waka Kotahi New Zealand Transport Agency with its world-class in-house Back-Office solution, including the Toll Operation System (TOS), the Automatic Vehicle Identification (AVI) system, and the Billing Invoice System (BIS). As part of SICE´s scope for this project, the solution will be delivered under a Software as a Service (SaaS) operational model, by leveraging the company´s recent experience from the TfNSW backoffice system project in Sydney.
SICE NZ strengthens its position and adds up a new reference in the region thanks to this first tolling project after successfully delivering the Waterview Tunnel, participating in the Ara Tūhono – Pūhoi to Warkworth motorway, and recently being awarded the City Rail Link project contract in Auckland.
This project is also SICE´s first reference for a nationwide Back-Office solution worldwide and critical in its long-term plan in New Zealand by reinforcing the strategic partnership with Waka Kotahi, which started back in 2012 with the Waterview project.
For this project, which will start its operations in 2024, SICE will provide its SaaS service tolling solution for an initial period of five years with the option to extend it for up to fourteen years.
SICE is a world-leading system integration and tolling systems company with over 30 years of experience in the design, delivery and maintenance of Intelligent Transport, Tolling and Traffic Systems solutions. With a presence in over 49 countries, SICE has delivered over 40 major tolling projects utilising different technologies (manual, automatic, ETC, free-flow and shadow tolls).
Since 2005, SICE has delivered landmark ITS and tolling projects in Australia and New Zealand as the tolling backoffice system for the EastLink toll road in Melbourne and the retail tolling backoffice system and the Trip Reconstruction And Rating Module (TRARM) for TfNSW in Sydney.
Furthermore, SICE is a leader in the provision of Operations Management and Control Systems (OMCS), having delivered its solution SIDERA for all stages of WestConnex and the West Gate Tunnel, the two most significant road infrastructure projects in Australia. In New Zealand, SICE has delivered its OMCS solution and associated systems for the country’s most complex road project to date, the Waterview Tunnel.
