Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca (SFM) awards SICE the contract to supply train-to-ground TETRA communication terminals for its 8100 series trains

SFM

SICE will provide SFM (Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca) with the equipment required to set up a train-ground communication system for the Balearic Government.

The TETRA equipment included in the company's technical proposal is widely deployed in many rail operators around the world. Although it already has standard functionalities to cover the needs of any railway operator, it also allows the development of new functionalities to meet both the operational and functional requirements of line operation.

SICE's solution is robust and reliable since it is manufactured in accordance with the main European standards for equipment to be installed on rolling stock. Its flexibility allows it to integrate with any external train system thanks to the variety of connection interfaces with other systems. It is also a simple solution to integrate, as all existing elements in the booth are connected to the TETRA console via a single inter-booth cable.

Concerning the supplies and services covered by this contract, the following, among others, are worth mentioning:

  • Supply, installation and configuration of TETRA equipment for 13+1 units compatible with the tetraIB network of the Balearic Government. These terminals will be installed on the 8100 GDF units.
  • Provision of activation licenses for the different configuration options.
  • Training in the systems’ use and configuration.
  • Training for system installation and maintenance.
  • Installation of the first unit.
  • Hardware and software required to install and maintain the equipment.
