FESUR (Ferrocarriles del Sur) awards SICE (Sistemas SEC) a contract for the modification of the current signaling system, updating it to the requirements of the Chilean railway use authorization system. The track section included in the project is a 108.14 km long railroad track within the region of Biobío (Chile), and involves eight stations and nine sections in the middle of the track.

The railway signaling system currently in service has problems in ensuring its operability owing to difficulties in maintenance work. In addition, the section has a high operational cost and a rail traffic low level, which has led FESUB to launch the renovation project.

SICE will replace the existing system and update it to the highest requirements of the Chilean roadway authorization system, which dictates the basic safety communications and maneuvering rules necessary for every action.
