The Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) grants 72 pairs of frequencies for the Radio Communication Tetra, installed by SICE, in the metro network of Mexico City

Tetra red de metro de Ciudad de México

The IFT approved, last February 28, a resolution to grant to the SYC the single concession for public use of the radio spectrum. These 72 pairs of frequencies will enable the use of a radio-communication system giving support to the operation, helping to prevent accidents and covering emergencies in the network, for the benefit of its 5.3 million daily users.

The TETRA (Terrestrial Trunked Radio) network installed by SICE and THALES Mexico, will facilitate internal communication between the Public Transport System and the Secretary of Mobility (Semovi) in coordination with:  the Passenger Transport Network (RTP), Transport Electrical Services (ETS), Metrobus,  Suburban train, Mexibus and the Ministry of Public Security of the city (SSPDF), providing them with the same technology.

The CEO of STC, Joel Ortega Cuevas, assessed very positively this new progress in the project: "We are going to develop one of the most important projects in the field of telecommunications with the Tetra we have acquired for this strategy and will allow Metro to modernize and refine its communications".
