Integrated passenger transport solutions offered by SICE, based on electric buses running along BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) type fast corridors, are a high quality alternative to trams in medium sized cities. Projects include everything from the design and supply of vehicles and infrastructure installation and maintenance, to operating the entire system. Projects commonly include:
Electrically powered trolleybuses are designed for the purpose of providing an attractive alternative to using private vehicles. As a result, vehicles must have a modern design and offer high levels of comfort. SICE has a range of experiences in supplying Trolleybuses in different parts of the world.
As an integration company, SICE works with different vehicles manufacturers depending on the needs of each project in particular in each case. Different types of trolleybuses with single or double bodies, powered by catenary or even by induction, with or without auxiliary traction, etc., can be adapted to meet the needs of each customer by personalizing them for each installation.
SICE brings its extensive experience in the traffic and transport sector to complement its BRT project service portfolio with engineering and consultancy work. The correct and optimum dimensioning of civil construction infrastructure and conduits, along with suitable garage and station design, will allow installations to be easy to maintain and integrated with the environment.
The electrical power supply system is designed to guarantee the supply of electricity to stations and garages, as well as to vehicles - as they consume the most energy, taking a broad range of parameters into account. Both the traction substations and catenary lines must be of adequate dimensions. It is necessary to use electricity simulations to validate the design and guarantee the solution.
High availability electricity infrastructure can be an additional requirement to be considered, to ensure that in the event of the failure of a traction substation the system can support the full or partial load.
Communications networks provide the necessary connectivity for the entire system, including connections between the control centre's internal network and the redundant multi-service trunk network that connects all of the equipment together.
In addition to transferring pure control data (SCADA, traffic network, ticketing, etc.), the trunk fibre optic network provides support to the CCTV surveillance system and telephony. A wireless IP network will be installed in addition to the wired network to provide connectivity between vehicles and the trunk network. For audio communications, digital radio systems can be added to allow for voice communications between drivers, control centre operators and maintenance operators.
SICE, as a traffic and transport integration company, integrates BRT operating systems with traffic management systems to ensure, through the use of priority systems and mechanisms, that public transport service frequencies are respected. For this reason, coordination between both platforms is a vital requirement for tram and BRT systems.
SICE works at operational control centres to develop and integrate the group of applications that manage the entire system including, among others:
Ticketing systems include a range of functions such as processing, control, monitoring and maintenance of any operations necessary for ticket distribution and validation. The system manages access control and consolidation and clearing processes in transport consortia.
SICE provides the full system including access control and validation, automatic machines and POS terminals, as well as back office systems for consolidating and integrating data on sales and cancellations. Included are tools for auditing takings, billing and generating reports, as well as clearing, bank management and payment method consolidation tools.
